Hotels round the world - Mercure Trier Porta Nigra

The "Privilege" rooms are facing the Porta Nigra, hence are submitted to the sometimes noisy crowds (and shouting guides) and to the traffic on the street inbetween. Double pane windows are powerless against frequent police and other sirens. A hospital is down the street with a helicopter landing pad on roof. But so far the nights have been quiet in that city, with bus traffic resuming at about 05:00.
The large rooms (twin beds) are basically ok except for a large stain (30cm diamater) on the couch in the room assigned on my first visit (Aug/Sep 2024). Then I had also to complain about missing items upon my arrival such as bathrobe, slippers, bottle of water and dosettes of coffee, normally provided for this type of rooms, but that was quickly fixed.
The many other visits were quite ok, sometimes with a generous upgrade in a duplex suite.
Coffee machine and kettle are provided with dosettes, sticks of powder coffee and tea bags, together with a bottle of water.
Some TV channels are sometimes blurred.
An electric radiator is available in cold months.
